Champions of Character 2018-2019

MOVE-IN DAY

On August 10th, 2018 all of the Knights on both the Cochran and Macon campuses helped all residential students move into their dorms around the campuses. We do this each year to show how much we appreciate the support from our residential students throughout the year. Over 150 student-athletes volunteered and over 2,000 residential students were helped during move-in day.

TEACHING TENNIS WITH THE KNIGHTS

On September 30th, 2018 the Men's and Women's Tennis teams held a free tennis clinic in Macon, GA. There were 30 K-12 students that attended this camp. The Knights were able to teach the students, as well as their parents, the fundamentals of tennis. 

SHOOT HOOPS DRUG AWARENESS

On October 19th, 2018 the Men's and Women's Basketball teams went to Bleckley County Elementary School to discuss drug awareness.  There were over 500 students in grades 3-5 that were in attendance.  The Knights took time to emphasize the importance of staying active and the importance of staying away from drugs.  The event concluded with an autograph session and the opportunity to play basketball with the Knights.

BLECKLEY COUNTY ELEMENTARY BOOK READING ON CAREER DAY

On October 19th, 2018 over 60 Knights (MS, WS, MMB, WBB, FB, EQ) volunteered their time at Bleckley County Elementary School to read books to over 500 students in grades 3rd-5th.  The book reading was connected to the school’s career day.  Along with the book reading the Knights were able to emphasize how important it is to stay in school. 

MGA DAY OF SERVICE

On November 30th, 2018 over 150 student-athletes participated in the MGA Day of Service.  The Knights volunteered at various locations while completing an array of deeds.

The Baseball team (bottom left corner) served by replacing and hanging windscreens at Bleckley County Recreation Department. 

Women's Basketball and Women's Soccer (right bottom and top) served by going to the local schools and collecting over 1,000 canned food items for the ones that were effected by Hurricane Michael.

COCHRAN CHRISTMAS PARADE

On December 7th, 2018 the Knights (WBB, WS, MBB, SB, BSB, EQ) participated in the Cochran Christmas Parade.  The Knights were in charge of decorating the float.  There were over 4,000 residents of Cochran in attendance.  The Knights walked with the float and threw out candy to the members of the community in attendance. 

BLECKLEY COUNTRY RECREATION DEPARTMENT SOCCER

The Women's Soccer team coached and refereed this Spring for the Bleckley County Recreation Department Soccer League.  There were over 40 children from ages 4 to 9 years old that played in the soccer league.  The Knights coached 8 teams through the Spring season. 

BLECKLEY COUNTY PRIMARY SCHOOL BOOK READING

 

On April 19th, 2019 the Knights (WS, MS, MBB, BSB, FB) attended Bleckley County Primary School where they read books to over 500 students.  The Primary School has grades K-2nd.  President Dr. Christopher Blake and Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Jennifer Brannon were both in attendance at this event.
