Coach Ligon is entering his 14th season at the helm for Middle Georgia State University. Ligon's record at MGA is an impressive 207-183 including a 23-6 record in 2008-09 when he led his team to the 2009 Region XVII and District J Championships which earned the team a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament held in Salina, Kansas.

Prior to coming to Middle Georgia, Coach Ligon spent 1999-2004 as the head coach of the men's basketball team at Alabama Southern. In 2004-05, Ligon served as both Men's and Women's Head Basketball Coach at Alabama Southern. Coach Ligon was named the Alabama Community College Conference Coach of the Year in 2001-02 and again in 2003-04. He has coached three NJCAA All-Americans, three NAIA All-Americans, and a host of Players of the Year and All-Region Players. Though he has received numerous coaching honors and accolades, Anderson Ligon takes more pride in the fact that he has helped many of his players graduate with two-year and four-year degrees.

In 1990, Coach Ligon started his coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at Mobile College, now known as the University of Mobile. After his first season, he was elevated to the top Assistant's position. Ligon also played basketball for Mobile College as a power forward. In 1988-89, he was selected as a NAIA All-American when he played for Dr. Bill Elder. In his two years at Mobile College, Ligon led the Rams to an overall 59-10 record, two Gulf Coast Athletic Conference titles, one NAIA District 30 Championship and a berth in the NAIA National Basketball Tournament. AS a senior, the 6'4" power forward was named the team's Most Valuable Player and holds several Mobile College season and career records.

Coach Ligon has had an abundance of success on the basketball court. In addition to his accomplishments at Mobile College, Ligon previously led Tuskegee Institute High School to an Alabama 1985 state 6A title, coached by Ernest Washington. He also led Southern Union State Junior College to an Alabama 1987 State Championship, coached by Frank Gourdouse. While completing his requirements for his undergraduate degree in Business, Ligon worked as a student assistant for Dr. Bill Elder. After receivinghis Business degree, he then entered the business world with Pepsi-Cola, before joining the Mobile College coaching staff. Coach Ligon earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration in 1994 from the University of Mobile.

Anderson was born in Tuskegee, Alabama. He is married to the former Sherri Lynn Kidd of Mobile, Alabama. She teaches Pre-Kindergarten at Bleckley County Learning Center. They have two children: Dominic Andrew is a graduate of Valdosta State University and Alexis Danielle is attending Middle Georgia State University.

Coach Ligon and his family reside in Cochran and belong to Precious Faith Temple Church. He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, mentoring, playing golf, traveling, barbecuing, listening to music and March Madness.
