Cornell's Walkoff Homer in 10th Caps Pair of Wins for Baseball Vs Blue Mountain College

COCHRAN, GA - Baseball took a pair of 2-run wins against the Blue Mountain College Toppers with a 4-2 win in game 1 in 7 innings followed by a 10th inning walkoff home run by Zach Cornell for a 5-3 win.  The pair of wins puts the Knights at 21-3 on the season and 8-0 in SSAC play while winning their 13th in a row.  The Game 1 win went to Logan Carter (4-0) and Game 2 to Jackson Braden (3-1).  

In Game 1, the Knights sent Alex Snider to the mound and after sitting down the first two batters, a walk and pair of hits had the Toppers up 1-0 in the top of the 1st.  The Knights came back with 2 in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI single by Blake Jackson and wild pitch by the Toppers' starter to allow the 2nd run.  The Knights extended the lead to 2 with Guner Sellers doubling to right allowing Cornell to score for the 3-1 lead.  The Topeprs got anotehr run on no hits but a walk, stolen base and sac fly to cut the lead to 3-2 in the 4th.  Cornell answered with an RBI single to score Bucky McGlamrey for the 4-2 lead.  Snider left the game after 3.1 innings and runners on 2nd and 3rd.  Carter got a fly ball for a sacrifice fly but Blake Jackson cut off the throw home and caught the runner at second too far off the bag for a double-play and to end the inning.  Carter went 3.2 innings and walked one with no runs, 2 strike outs, and 3 hit batters to earn the win.  

Game 2 had the Knights score first with an RBI single by Jackson in the 3rd to score McGlamrey for th 1-0 lead.  In the 5th, Robbie Hanlon drove hom Tyler Flood with a fielder's choice to second for a 2-0 lead.  The toppers tied it up in the 6th with 2 runs on a hit and a pair of errors by the Knights as Braden took over for Sparks to get the Knights out of the inning.  The score remained tied at 2 until the top of the 9th as the Toppers got a run on 3 hits before leaving the bases loaded and a 3-2 lead.  After a fly out to left, Bucky McGlamrey pinch hit for Tyler Flood and hit his 2nd homer of the season on a 1-1 pitch to tie the game at 3.  After allowing a hit and stranding a runner in the top of the 10th, the game headed to the bottom of the 10th with Jackson walking to lead off the inning and Cornell hit his 4th home run of the season which was a 2-run bomb for the walkoff win by the Knights 5-3.  Sparks threw 5.0 innings allowing an unearned run on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 2.  Braden earned the win going 5.0 innings while striking out 8 and allowing 5 hits and 2 walks with one earned run.

The Knights and Toppers face off in game 3 of the series on Sunday, March 17 at 1PM.  The Knights will host USC-Beaufort on Tuesday, March 19 at 3PM for a doubleheader then on the road at #3 Faulkner for a 3-game series on March 22nd and 23rd in Montgomery, AL.
