MONTGOMERY, AL - Baseball dropped game 1 of the 3-game series 12-5 to the #2 Faulkner University Eagles. The loss has the Knights at 23-5 on the season and 9-1 in SSAC play. The Knights and Eagles are tied atop the SSAC standings both with 9-1 records.
The game was tied at 0 for the first two and a half innings before the Eagles took a 2-0 lead but the Knights asnwered with a pair of runs off Robbie Hanlon's single to tie the game at 2. The Eagles got to starter Preston Sparks in the bottom of the 5th for another run and a 3-2 lead then blew the game wide-open with a 9-run 6th to take a 12-2 lead. The Knights got a pair of runs in the top of the 7th to trail 12-4 then one more in the 9th for a 12-5 final.
Sparks threw 4.1 innings with 3 strike outs and 2 earned runs allowing only 2 hits to take the loss. Logan Carter threw 1.0 innings allowing just 2 hits but gave up 7 earned runs before leaving the game. Cam Bailey finished the final 2.2 innings for the Knights with 4 strike outs and 2 earned runs.
The Knights and Eagles will meet at 2PM Eastern on Saturday, March 23rd for a doubleheader in Montgomery, AL to complete the 3-game series.
