Five Men's Soccer Members Earn SSAC Honors

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Knights men's soccer team had 5 players bring home honors on Tuesday, November 6.  The team had 3 earn spots on the All-Freshman Team, 2 All-Academic, and the Musco Lighting Champions of Character Award.

Kyle Jordaan, John Crawley, and Erik Ulloa Villa all earnd a spot on the All-Freshman Team.  Jordaan was the team's leading scorer this year with 5 goals and 10 points.  Jordaan played in all 16 games for the Knights and scored the two Game Winning Goals the team had this year.  Crawley was the team's second leading scorer with 4 and 1 assist giving him 9 points on the season and played in all 16 games.  Ulloa Villa started all 16 games for the Knights and had one goal for the year.  

The All-Academic Team is awarded to students with 24 credit hours earned and a 3.25 or higher GPA.  Justin Alonso and Alex Herrera each earned a spot on the team for their work in the classroom and on the field.  Alonso is a junior who played in 15 games for the Knights with 8 starts and had one assist.  Herrera is a sophomore who played in all 16 games with 6 starts this year.  

Alonso also received the Musco Lighting Champions of Character Award as selected by his coach, Elvar Gudjonsson.  The award is given to one member of each team in the conference as nominated by their coach for exhibiting the 5 characteristics of the Champions of Character Program: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.  

The men's team finished the year with a win over Brewton Parker to end 2-13-1 and look to bring back a strong freshman class with some up and coming juniors for a strong 2019.
