Women's Cross Country Hosts MGA Invitational

MACON, GA - The Middle Georgia State University women's cross country hosted the MGA Invitational to open their season hosting 8 women's teams and 6 men's teams for races on Saturday, September 8.  The women ran a 5K race which saw the Knights finish 4th out of 5 NAIA teams and 6th of 8 overall.  The team finished with a total time of 2:03:03 and 113 points which was just 3 points behind 5th place.   The Knights finishers were:

Ave Marie won the overall men's and women's races with the women scoring 42 pionts  and the men with 34.  The top finisher for each group was also from Ave Marie.  Ave Marie's Mary Goetz set the course record for the women's 5K with a time of 20:12.5 which topped the 2017 time of 20:43.9 by Point University's Rebecca Guadiana.  For the men, Ave Marie's Gabriel Hogan sest a new course record for the 8K with a time of 28:19.0 (5:41.8 average mile) surpassing the 2017 time set by Brewton Parker's Bosco Hakuzimana who put up a time of 29:40.2 in 2017 and finished 3rd with a time of 29:43.7 in this event.

On the men's side, Middle Georgia State student Armando Ibarra participated unattached and finished 5th overall on the men's side with a time of 30:18.1.

The women's team will travel to Newnan, GA on September 22 to participate in the SCAD-Atlanta meet for their next competition.
