LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - Baseball defeated the #3 Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies 7-5 on Tuesday the 16th to improve to 32-11 on the season. The Knights outhit the Grizzlies 13-10 in the game as Chris Burgess was the top performer for the team with a 3-run double and 2-run home run while Kyle Anderson started and threw 6.2 innings allowing only 7 hits, 3 earned runs, and 4 walks with 4 strike outs.
The Knights scored first in the 3rd as Robbie Hanlon singled home Bucky McGlamrey for the 1-0 lead. In the 4th, Burgess had a 2-out double with the bases loaded to score Guner Sellers, Jacob Durant, and McGlamrey for a 4-0 lead. The Grizzlies scored a run on a hit in the 4th to cut the lead to 4-1. In the 6th, Burgess hit a 2-run home run with one out to drive home sellers for a 6-1 lead. The Knights got another run in the 7th on Durant's sacrifice fly to score Zach Cornell for a 7-1 lead.
The Grizzlies got a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 7th from Nick Barnes to cut the lead to 7-4 as Alex Snider got the final out of the inning. In the 9th, the Grizzlies scored another run on 2 hits to cut the lead to 7-5 stranding a runner on 3rd before Snider struck out the final two batters to end the game.
The Knights had Burgess and Hanlon with 3 hits each while Sellers and McGlamrey each had a pair of hits and a pair of runs. Anderson earned the win to improve his record to 2-2 on the season in 10 games pitched.
The Knights face the Brewton Parker College Barons on Thursday the 18th at 4PM and a doubleheader on Saturday the 20th starting at 1PM in the final home series of the season. The Knights finish the regular season at Martin Methodist College on April 25 and 26 before going to the SSAC tournament starting on May 1.
