Baseball Alumni MJ Rookard Named to Coastal Plain League All-Star Team

MACON, GA - MJ Rookard finished his collegiate career after 2 seasons with the Knights compiling a .354 average, .552 slugging percentage, 16 home runs, 98 RBI, and 111 runs scored.  After his senior season, he joined the Macon Bacon of the Coastal Plain League and continued his hot batting to earn a spot on the CPL Select Team.  In 20 games this season with the Bacon, Rookard is batting .410 going 32 for 78 at the plate with 18 RBI, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, and 26 runs scored.  He ranks 1st in the CPL in batting average, runs scored, and hits while he ranks 2nd in RBI and on-base percentage.  

On June 24, Rookard was named the CPL Hitter of the Week batting .524 on the week as he hit for the rare super cycle on June 17 getting the cycle in his first 4 at bats before walking in his final 2 plate appearances for the game.  In the same week he had a second 4 hit game which led to a total of 11 hits and 8 RBI for the week with a slugging percentage of 1.000.  

The CPL select team will face the USA COllegiate National Team on Monday, July 1 at 4:00 PM at the USA Baseball Training Complex in Cary, NC with Rookard being one of the starting outfielders for the CPL Select Team.
