
COCHRAN, GA - The men's basketball team got another win in SSAC play as they defeated the Dalton State Roadrunners 75-71 on Saturday, February 2. The win puts the Knights at 14-6 on the season, 9-6 in SSAC play while the Roadrunners are now 8-7 in SSAC play. The Knights were led by Tyrone Young with a game-high 20 points while also pulling in 8 rebounds. Darrell White scored 18 in the game with 16 of those coming in the second half. Kinsey Burgess also scored in double-digits with 10 and was tied for the game-high in rebounds with 9, just missing his first double-double of the season. Kevin Ford had a game-high 8 assists giving him 90 on the season.
The Knights jumped out to an early lead and led by as many as 11 in the first half with 13:15 remaining in the first half but the Roadrunners fought back to cut the lead to 2 at half time, 35-33. In the second half, the Knights used an early 8-0 run to open up and overall 18-8 run in the first 8 minutes to go up by 12. The Roadrunners fought back to cut the lead to 5 then it went back to 11 with 6:29 remaining. The Roadrunners chipped away to cut the Knights lead to 2 with 1:17 remaining but the Knights went 3-4 from the line and used a fastbreak dunk by Burgess to cap the win.
The Knights will host #13 William Carey on Thursday, February 7 after the women's game at 5:30 PM. Saturday, February 9 is the MGA Basketball Homecoming as the Knights host (RV) Loyola University with the women's game starting at 1PM.
