MACON, GA - The men's tennis team shut out the #7 Cumberland University Phoenix 5-0 on Tuesday, March 5 taking all 3 doubles and the 1st and 2nd singles. The remaining matches were not completed as they did not impact the outcome.
The win was the 6th straigh for the Knights to move to 6-2 on the season who are now 3-0 against teams ranked in the top 10 in the NAIA and 4-1 against ranked teams.
The Knights first point came from the #3 doubles match with Yuri Syromolotov and Leandro Otero defeating Milosevic and Pardo 8-3. The #1 doubles finished next with Jimmy Merah and Alejandro Prada winning 8-6 over Lopes and Lucich. Octavio Tamola and Lucas De Freitas were the 3rd done at #2 doubles winning 8-1 over Grabuceda and Fernandez.
In singles, Syromolotov was 6-0, 6-0 at #1 against Puertolas and Merah won aat #2 6-0, 6-0 over Grabuceda to close out the 5-0 win.
The Knights next scheduled match is on March 19 when they host #19 McPherson College in Macon.
