Sadler Named to SSAC 1st Team, Delas 2nd as Women's Basketball Season Ends on Day 2 at SSAC Tournament

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Knights women's basketball team ended their season on Thursday, February 28th with a 97-72 loss to 1-seed and #15 ranked Bethel University.  This came a day after the SSAC announced postseason awards which included a 1st Team All-Conference selection for Joy Sadler and 2nd-Team All-Conference selection for Kianna Delas.  Delas also achieved a milestone in the game scoring a basket in the 2nd quarter to give her 1,000 points for her career at Middle Georgia State and finished with 1,017 after scoring 18 in the game.  

Sadler was named to the SSAC 1st Team All-Conference for her outstanding play this season and particularly over the Knights final 7 games of the regular season when she had a double-double in all 7 games to earn SSAC Player of the Week for the 2nd and 3rd time in the season.  Sadler averaged 15.22 points per game for the season which ranked 35th in the NAIA and 3rd in the SSAC. She averaged 9.56 rebounds per game which ranked 20th in the NAIA and led the SSAC.  She also ranked in the top 50 in the NAIA in Offensive Rebounds per Game with 3.654, Total Rebounds with 250, Defensive Rebounds per Game at 5.962, Blocks per Game at 1.04, Total Blocks with 27, and Field Goal Percentage with 40.3%.  

Delas was named to the 2nd Team All-Confernece averaging 12.79 Points per Game which ranked 9th in the SSAC and 1.76 steals per game to rank 10th in the SSAC.  Delas is a senior who played 3 seasons for the Knights participating in 87 games and scoring 1,017 points.  She had 347 rebounds, 242 assists and 143 steals over her career.

The Knights final game of the season was a loss to Bethel in which the Knights had 3 players in double-figures as Dexshalyn Polite joined Sadler and Delas by scoring 13 points.  Ilyn Spann had 5 more assists ending her season average at 5.10 which led the SSAC and ranks 12th in the NAIA while she was 13th in total assists.  Sadler was 2 rebounds shy of another double-double to close the season.  The Wildcats were led by SSAC Player of the Year, Myah Taylor who scored 26 points including 13-13 from the free throw line.  

The game brought to an end the careers of three Knights.  As mentioned, Delas ended her career of 3 seasons with high numbers including 1,017 points.  Spann is a 4 year player for the Knights and started most game over her final 3 seasons having played in 114 games over 4 years with 638 points, 355 assists, 277 rebounds, and 181 steals.  The third senior was Polite who played 2 seasons for the Knights scoring 810 points ove 2 seasons to average 14.2 points per game for her career with 265 rebounds, 109 assists, and 85 steals.

The Knights lose 3 seniors but return Sadler for the 2019-20 season along with Gabby Hill (8.76 PPG, 1.17 SPG), Mariah Scott (6.41 RPG, 5.59 PPG, 1.07 BPG), and several other players who contributed this season.
