Mobile, AL - The Knights were on the court on Wednesday, May 14th after having a bye on the first day of the NAIA National Tournament. The Knights were the 7-seed in the tournament and were set to face the 10-seed Generals of LSU-Alexandria.
The Knights started off with a loss in the #1 Doubles match but rallied to defeat the Generals in the #2 Doubles match with
Tamanna Takoria/Berta Castello Petrus winning 6-4. The Knights pulled through in the #3 Doubles match grabbing a 6-4 win with
Liza Jeannique Hinrichs/
Yana Prihach securing the point. The singles competition proved tough with the Generals winning the #2, #5, and #6 matches in straight sets and the Knights won the #3 and #4 matches in straight sets. The final point came down to the #1 Singles match with
Marina Prieto Gonfaus looking to send the Knights into Thursday. She won the first set 6-2 but lost the second set 1-6 to take the match into the third and final set. The final set came down to a tiebreaker with the Knights winning the final point and taking the match 4-3.
The Knights will be back on the court on Thursday, May 15th at 9 AM CDT as they will face the 2-seed Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College.
