Gayla received her NATA certification in 1992 and has worked for various schools and businesses since her certification. She earned her B.S. in Sports Medicine degree at Valdosta State College along with a master's degree in Health and Physical Education. She received the SSAC Athletic Trainer of the Year award in 2020 and has been employed with MGSU since 2009. Gayla is originally from Abbeville, Georgia and currently resides in Pineview, Georgia. She is married to Jim McLeod and has two children, Kendall (Jarod) Atkins and Thomas Adcock.
