Steven Rhodes

Steven Rhodes was named the head women’s basketball coach at Middle Georgia State University on May 5, 2025.

Rhodes recently completed his third season on the staff at USC Upstate, a NCAA Division I member of the Big South Conference in Spartanburg, S.C. Prior to his time on the Spartans bench Rhodes worked as an assistant coach North Carolina A&T between 2020-2022.

His efforts helped guide North Carolina A&T to a MEAC regular season conference championship in 2021 as well as a MEAC Tournament Championship that led to a bid to the NCAA Division I National Tournament.

Prior to his time at North Carolina A&T, Rhodes spent one season at Radford University as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. In 2020, he helped lead the team to a second-place finish in the Big South.

Before his time at the NCAA Division I level Rhodes served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Belmont Abbey College, a member of NCAA Division II and Conference Carolinas. While at Belmont Abbey, Rhodes helped push the team to a 67-22 record through three seasons, won a Conference Carolinas regular season conference championship for the first time as a program in 18 years, and made a Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship game for the first time as a program in 15 years.

At Belmont Abbey, Rhodes established his "family time" program to promote the team and cultural building, developed scouting reports on paper, through film, and on the court, and acted as the liaison of academics, helping the team earn the highest GPA in program history and on campus (3.59).

A native of North Carolina, Rhodes graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington first in 2014 with his Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Sport Leadership, & Tourism Management and then in 2016 with his Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. While attending UNC Wilmington, Rhodes served as the head manager and graduate assistant for the women's basketball team.

Rhodes and his wife Gissell have a one year old daughter, Liliana.
