Montgomery, AL - The Knights remained in Montgomery, Alabama as they played for the second straight day at the SSAC Tournament as they were set to take on the 2-seed Crusaders of William Carey University and the 6-seed Tornadoes of Talladega College to finish out the round-robin opening round format.
William Carey University
The Knights would start off the first set falling behind early and would not be able to recover as the Crusaders would win the first set 25-13. The Knights would fare better in the second set as they would again fall behind early in the set but would come back to make the set close. They would not, however, be able to take te lead as the Crusaders would win the second set 25-20. The Knights would find a spark in the third set as they would win the first seven points of the set. The Knights would let the Crusaders back into the set as both team would trade the lead down the stretch before the Crusaders would eventually take the lead and win the set 25-20.
Stephanie Burke led the Knights with 11 kills,
Brooke Norwood led with 25 assists, and
Alia Gomez led with 19 digs.
Talladega College
The Knights would go into the match against Talladega College with nothing to lose as they were eliminated from advancing to the SSAC Tournament semi-finals. The Knight and Tornadoes would play a close first set as both team would trade the lead early on in the set. The Tornadoes would take a an 18-13 lead as the Knights looked to be on their way to losing the first set. The Knights would score seven straight points to take a 20-18 lead and would go on to win the first set 25-22. The second set would start off much like the first with both teams trading the lead before the Knights would pull ahead and win the set 25-11. The third set would see the Knights fall behind 7-1 early on but the Knights would recover to make it a 22-21 score before the Tornadoes would finish the set off and win 25-22. The Knights would play a close fourth set as the set would be tied at 16-16 before the Knights would win seven straight points to pull ahead and go on to win the set 25-22 and win the match. Burke would lead the Knights with 12 kills, Norwood would lead with 35 assists, and Gomez would lead with 26 digs.
The Knight finish the season with a record of 10-14, tying the school record for wins in a single season.
