9/6/2021 4:10:00 PM

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Monday, September 6th as they were set to take on the Royals from Warner University after defeating Bethel University on Saturday. A win against the Royals would give the Knights a three-game winning streak after dropping their first match of the season.

First Half

The Knights were attacking from the start of the match, as they were called for offside in the 2nd minute of the match. The first shot was taken by the Knights in the 7th minute and the Knights would continue to put shots toward the goal before the Royals would gain control of the match. The Knights last shot of the first half came at the 18th minute mark as the Royals would not allow the Knights to regain any offense as the match would go into halftime as a 0-0 tie. The Knights outshot the Royals 5-4 in the first half and the Royals picked up a yellow card at the 34:19 mark in the half.

Second Half

The Knights would start off the second half of the match much like they did the first half as they would not allow the Royals to take any shots in the first 15 minutes of the half. The Knights shots would finally break through as Natalie Strkalj would put the Knights on the board in the 61st minute with her first goal of the season that was assisted by Miagh Downey. The Royals would start to take shots at the goal in their attempts to tie the match back up but Courtney Link hold strong, making two saves in the span of 35 seconds. The Knights would take control of the ball late in the second half and keep the Royals from taking any shots after the 62:01 mark to go on for the 1-0 victory.

The Knights outshot the Royals 10-6 for the entire match. The Knights will have to recover quickly as they are set to host the sixth-ranked Fire from Southeastern University at Nesmith Field on Thursday, September 9th. The Knights will be looking for their fourth win in a row.
