Knights Go Down to Wire With Barons

Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia on Saturday, November 5th as they finished off their regular season with one final match against Brewton-Parker College. The Knights were coming off of a victory over Stillman College and were looking to start a winning streak. The Knights would jump out to an early lead in the first set before the Barons would come back to make it a close set. The Knights would go up 22-20 but would lose the final five points of the set to lose 25-22. The Knights would jump out to another lead in the second set before the Barons would get back into the set. The Knights would step on the gas as they would win 13 of the final 16 points to win the set 25-14. The third set would be another back and forth battle as both teams would trade the lead before the Barons would pull away and the Knights would lose the third set 25-18. The Knights would fall behind early in the fourth set as it looked like they win lose the fourth set but would come back late in the set to win 25-21. The fifth and final set would see the Knights win the first nine points of the set as they would cruise to a 15-4 win of the set and would win the match. Courtney Williamson led the Knights with 18 kills, adding four solo blocks and two assisted blocks to give her 23 points for the match, a new MGA single match record. The Knights end the regular season on a two game winning streak and clinch the 8-seed in the SSAC Tournament. The Knights will start pool play on Thursday, November 10th as they play three matches over two days against 1-seed Blue Mountain College, 4-seed Mobile, and 5-seed Faulkner.
