Knights Take One From Crusaders

Cochran, GA - The Knights were at home on Friday and Saturday as they hosted the Crusaders from William Carey University. The Knights were riding a six game winning streak coming into the series and were looking to add to the streak. The Knights would get things started in the first game of the series in the third inning as Justin Brooks would reach on a walk and Ryan Wilson would hit a double to put runners at second and third for Brian Herrera, who would hit a single to drive both runs in and put the Knights up 2-0. The Knights would score another run in the fourth inning after a Paolo Brossier single and a Brooks walk to setup Rafael Gomez Jr for the RBI single to give the Knights the 3-0 lead. Three runs is all the Knights would need as they would win the game 3-0 as Garrett Martin would pitch the complete game shutout, giving up only three hits and striking out 11 batters. The second game of the series would be a different story for the Knights as they would give up two runs in the second inning, one run in the third and fourth innings, and five runs in the fifth inning a they would fall behind 9-0. Gomez Jr would lead off the sixth inning with a triple and would later score on a wild pitch the put the Knights on the board but it would be the only run the Knights would get as they would give up five more runs in the seventh and go on to lose 14-1. The Knights would look to turn their fortune around in the third and final game of the series on Saturday. The Knights would give up two runs in the fourth inning but would come back in the bottom half of the inning to score one run after Blake Metcalfe and Brody Little would lead off the inning with walks, Andrew Krauss would hit into a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. An error by the Crusaders would allow the run to score but the one run is all the Knights would get as the Crusaders would score three runs in the fifth, five runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth and the Knights would lose 11-1. The Knights will look to regroup before Tuesday as they travel to Lawrenceville, Georgia to take on the Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. First pitch is scheduled for 6 PM EST.
