Knights Use Comeback to Take One of Three From Eagles

Cochran, GA - The Knights returned to the field on Thursday and Friday as they welcomed the Eagles of Faulkner University to Stuckey Field in the regular season finale. The Knights were coming off of a weekend sweep of the University of Mobile and were looking to ride the momentum for more victories. The Knights would fall behind early in the first game as they would allow a run to score in the first inning to fall behind 1-0. The Knights would take the lead in the eighth inning where they would score two runs on a Brody Little sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Rafael Gomez Jr. The Knights would not have the lead for long as they Eagles would hit a three run home run in the top of the ninth inning and the Knights would lose the first game of the series 4-2. The Knights would come back on Friday to finish off the series with a doubleheader as they would fall behind after giving up two runs in the third and fourth innings. The Knights would score five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a bases loaded walk by Paolo Brossier, an RBi single by Blake Metcalfe that would result in an error to allow tow more runs to score and a sacrifice fly from Andrew Krauss as the Knights would hold a 5-4 lead. The Eagles would score a run in the fifth inning to tie the game at 5-5 and the score would hold until the ninth inning. The Eagles would score a run in the top of the ninth as the Knights would have to dig deep to get the victory. The Knights would score two runs in the bottom half of the inning on a Brossier bunt and error would allow a run to score and a Metcalfe RBI single to walk it off at 7-6. The thrill of victory would quickly disappear as the Knights would be shut out in the final game of the series, 8-0. The Knights will look ahead toward the postseason as they will head to Columbus, Georgia for the SSAC Tournament where they will be the 5-seed and take on the 4-seeded Barons of Brewton-Parker College on Wednesday, May 4th. First pitch is scheduled for 11 AM EST.
