Decatur, AL - The Knights returned to the field for the final days of the SSAC Tournament as they looked to advance further than they ever have. The second day of the tournament would see the Knights face the Crusaders of William Carey University. The Knights would get on the board first with one run in the first inning on a
Georgia Bice RBI double. It would be the only offense the Knights would have as the Crusaders would score runs in the first, second, and fourth innings to force the mercy rule on the Knights as the Knights would lose 10-1. The loss would put the Knights in the loser's bracket and they would have to fight their way back. The Knights would face the Barons of Brewton-Parker College in the second game of the day. The Knights would get on the scoreboard in the first inning as they would score two runs on an RBI double from
Emma Raulerson and an RBI single from Bice to go ahead 2-0. The Knights would score another two runs in the second inning on a
Lauren Heath RBI triple and a RBI groundout from
Karlee Back to put the Knights up 4-0. The Knights would give up a run in the third inning but would come back in the bottom half of the inning to score four runs after a
Barrett Howell RBI single, a Heath fielder's choice, an RBI groundout from Back, and an error on a ball hit by
Summer Lawrence as the Knights would go up 8-1. The Knights would give up two more runs but would hold on for the 8-3 victory. The Knights would have to play a third straight game as they would take on the Eagles of Faulkner University. The bats would take a little longer to come alive for the Knights as the Knights would not score until the fourth inning where they would score four runs on a
Summer Lawrence RBI double, an error that would later allow Lawrence to score, a Raulerson solo home run, and a
Logan Blizzard sacrifice fly as the Knights would take the 4-0 lead. The Knights would score three more runs in the fifth inning as Bice would come up to bat with the bases loaded and hit the three run double to give the Knights a 7-0 lead. The Knights would give up three runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning but would hang on to win the game 7-5. The victory would set up the Knights for to take on William Carey again on the final day of the tournament. The Knights playing for a chance to make it to the Championship game for the first time. The Knights would give up four runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning as their hopes of making it to the championship looked all but gone. The Knights would start to make a comeback in the seventh inning as an RBI groundout by Blizzard and a two run single would cut the deficit down to 5-3. The Crusaders would bring in their ace in an attempt to shut down the Knights and the Knights would be unable to hit as they would lose 5-3. The loss puts the Knights at a 39-14 record and in third place in both the SSAC regular season and SSAC Tournament. The Knights will have to wait until May 10th to see if their season will continue as they could possibly be picked for the NAIA Opening Round.
