Box Score Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the pitch on Saturday, August 20th as they hosted the Nighthawks from Thomas University. The Knights were coming off of a victory against Ave Maria University on Thursday and were looking to keep the momentum going against the Nighthawks, which the Knights will see more of next year as the Nighthawks are set to join the Southern States Athletic Conference next season. The Knights and Nighthawks would trade shots within the first minute to start the game before the game would be controlled by the midfield. The Knights would gain an opportunity in the 14th minute as they would have a corner kick which would find the back of the net after Ellie Richings would kick in her first goal of the season after the initial header by Ellie Russell and the Knights would go up 1-0. The Nighthawks would answer back in the 24th minute as they would score a goal to tie the game up at 1-1. The Nighthawks would take the lead in the 37th minute and the Knights would be down 2-1 and the score would remain the same going into the halftime break. The Knights would even the game up at 2-2 in the 57th minute after a goal from Miagh Downey with the assist from Louise Rosager on a free kick. The Nighthawks would break the tie in the 69th minute but the Knights would answer back quickly as Downey would slide in to score another goal in the 70th minute to tie the game at 3-3. The Knights would not wait long to take the 4-3 lead as Sunaina Chaigneau would score the go ahead goal from outside the box in the 72nd minute with Downey adding the assist. The Knights defense would hold onto the lead and the Knights would move to 2-0 on the season. The Knights will be back in action next Sunday, August 28th as they travel on the road for the first time this season, taking on the Bethel University Wildcats. Game time is set for 12:00 PM CST.
