Knights on Wrong End of High Scoring Game

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on their home field on Tuesday, February 28th as they hosted the Sand Sharks of USC-Beaufort. The Knights previously played the Sand Sharks earlier in the season and were on the wrong end of the score as they lost 11-4 and were looking for revenge. The Knights would get the scoring started in the second inning with an RBI single from Brian Herrera as they would take the early 1-0 lead. The Sand Sharks would answer back with a run in the third inning but the Knights would get back ahead in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single from Jacob Pierce and an RBI double from Andrew Krauss as the Knights would take a 4-1 lead after three innings. The Knights would fall behind in the fourth inning after giving up seven runs in the top half of the inning but would close the gap in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double from JT Rice, a Ryan Wilson sacrifice fly, and a wild pitch on a walk that would allow Rice to score as the Knights would trail 8-7. The Knights would give up another two runs in the fifth inning and would trail 10-7 going into the sixth inning. A Wilson two-run home run would close the gap to 10-9 and an RBI single from Herrera and an RBI double from Derick Stager would give the Knights an 11-10 lead. The Knights would score another run in the seventh inning on a wild pitch and would hold a 12-10 advantage. The Knights would be unable to hold onto the lead as they would give up three runs in the eighth inning and would be unable to score any runs in the eighth or ninth innings and would lose the game 13-12. The Knights fall to 9-7 as they head into conference play this weekend as they travel to Mobile, Alabama to take on the Rams in a three game series with two games on Friday, March 3rd and one game on Saturday, March 4th. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 1 PM CST.
