Hattiesburg, MS - The Knights were on the road on Monday, March 20th as they were in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to take on the 15th-ranked Crusaders of William Carey University. The Knights were coming off of a sweep of the top-ranked Mobile Rams and were looking to continue their dominance. The Knights would get things started in the first game of the series with a sacrifice fly from Emma raulerson in the first inning as the Knights would take an early 1-0 lead. The Knights would add three more runs in the second inning on a
Georgia Bice RBI double and a two run single from
Madisyn Riggins as the Knights looked to be on their way to another victory. The Crusaders would answer back with two runs in the third and fourth innings as the game would be tied at 4-4 after four innings. The Knights would retake the lead in the fifth inning on an
Alexis Cosgrove RBI double but the Crusaders would add two in the bottom half of the inning and the Knights would face a 6-5 deficit. The Knights would go into the seventh inning facing the same deficit but would add on three runs with RBI singles from
Kaelyn Campbell and
Morgan Windham as well as an RBI groundout from Bice and the Knights would take an 8-6 lead. The Crusaders would make a run at the Knights with a run in the bottom half of the inning but the Knights would get out of a bases loaded jam to take the 8-7 win. The second game of the series would be a lower scoring affair as the Knights would score a run in the first inning on a
Logan Blizzard RBI single but the Crusaders would tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the inning. The Knights would gain the lead in the fourth inning on a
Lauren Heath RBI double and the Knights would be up 2-1. The Knights would surrender a run in the fifth inning as the game would be tied at 2-2. Neither team would be able to score another run in regulation as the game would go into extra innings. The Knights would be unable to score as the Crusaders would score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Knights would lose 3-2. The Knights record moves to 21-3, 7-1 SSAC as they will hit the road again on Saturday, March 25th as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama to take on the Eagles of Faulkner University.
