Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on their home field on Thursday and Friday as they hosted the 12th ranked Wolfpack of Loyola University. The Knights were looking to end a five game skid as they were playing at home for the first time in three weeks. The Knights would get things started early in the first game of the series as
Andrew Krauss would hit a two-run home run in the first inning to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. The Knights would extend their lead in the third inning on a
Jacob Pierce solo home run as they would go up 3-0. The Wolfpack would score one run in the sixth inning but the Knights would answer back in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run from
Jaiden Duarte and score another run on a wild pitch by the Wolfpack. The Knights would go up 5-1 and win the game by the same score.
Logan Lee would pitch a complete game, allowing only two hits and one run while striking out seven batters. Game two of the series would start off slow for the Knights as the Wolfpack would score one run in the first inning and three runs in the third inning and the Knights would fall behind 4-0. The Knights would answer back in the fifth inning with an RBI single from Jake Edwards and a three run home run from Pierce as the Knights would tie the game at 4-4. Pierce would come up to bat again in the seventh inning and put the Knights ahead with a solo home run and the Knights would hold on to the 5-4 lead to win the game.
Hunter Varnadoe would come up one out short of the complete game, pitching eight and 2/3 innings while
Caleb Lanoux would come in for the save. The Knights would come back the next day to end the series as they looked to complete the sweep and they would make a statement early on as they would score four runs in the first inning on a Pierce two-run home run, a
Ryan Wilson solo home run, and a Duarte RBI triple. The Knights would score another run in the second inning on a Wilson RBI single and the Knights would go ahead 5-0. The Knights would continue to pour on the runs as they would score three runs in the fourth inning on a two run single by Pierce and a wild pitch that would allow a run to score. The Knights would score six runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles by
JT Rice and
Brennon Williams and two-run singles by Krauss and
Garrett Dennis as the Knights would have a comfortable lead of 14-0. The Knights could not hold on to the shutout though as the Wolfpack would score one run in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh inning but the Knights would hold on for the 14-3 win. The Knights move to 19-18, 7-8 SSAC on the season as they hit the road on Tuesday, April 11th when they travel to Waleska, Georgia to take opn the Eagles of Reinhardt University. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM EST.
