Cochran, GA - The Knights returned to their home field on Wednesday, October 2nd as they started a six game home stretch with a match against the Running Eagles of Life University. The Knights were still looking for their first conference win of the season after a draw and three losses.
The Knights would face a tough test with the Running Eagles taking control of the match early. The Knights would have a few opportunities but would not have the preferred outcome until the 27th minute when
Branden Glover would put the ball in the net and give the Knights a 1-0 lead. The Knights would hold the lead going into the halftime break as they looked to frustrate the opposing team. The second half would be filled with many fouls with both teams trying to control the match. The Running Eagles would tie the match at 1-1 in the 74th minute but the Knights would regain the lead in the 78th minute with a goal by
Moos Zwerts after a run from the defensive half from
Leighton Thomas would set up the goal. The Running Eagles would draw a foul in the penalty box in the 81st minute and convert to tie the match at 2-2 but the Knights would have an answer as they would draw a foul in the penalty box and
James Skelton would put the ball in the net in the 88th minute as the Knights would take a 3-2 lead and win the match.
The Knights get their fourth win of the season, the most in a season since 2019. The Knights will be back on the field on Saturday, October 5th as they face the 2nd-ranked Roadrunners of Dalton State College. That match will kick off at 2 PM EST.
