Dalton, GA - The Knights were back in action on Friday, December 13th as they traveled to Dalton, Georgia to take on the Roadrunners of Dalton State College. The Knights were coming off of a close loss to Life University but were looking to take control of the SSAC East.
The Knights would not have the start they would want as the Roadrunners would score the first five points of the game. The Knights would get within one point of the lead before the Roadrunners would start to pull away in the first half. The Roadrunners would extend their lead to nine points before the Knights would stop the momentum and cut the lead back down to four points. The Roadrunners would find their rhythm again and the Knights would find themselves down by 14 points with 4:24 remaining in the first half. The Knights would find their shooting touch as they would cut the deficit down to six points before going into the halftime break down 50-41. The Knights deficit would grow to 11 points before the Knights would slowly start to chip away at the lead. The Knights would use up the entire second half cutting into the Roadrunners lead as the Knights would tie the game at 78-78 with 12 seconds remaining in the game. The Roadrunners would draw a late foul with two seconds left in the game and hit both free throws as the Knights would fall 80-78.
Milique Smith led the Knights with 23 points and nine rebounds as
Trashawn Wilson (15 points),
Andrew Prestwood (12 points), and
Nick Cham (11 points) would each reach double digits in scoring.
The Knights will be back in action with exhibition games on Saturday, December 14th at Troy University and Thursday, January 2nd at Columbus State University before returning home for their next conference matchup against the Barons of Brewton-Parker College on Saturday, January 4th. Tip off is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
