Knights Hit Late Overtime Shot for Victory

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in Morris Gym on Wednesday, February 21st as they hosted the Skyhawks of Point University. The Knights previously beat the Skyhawks on the road and were looking to handle business once again. The game would be close from the start as both teams would trade the lead before the Knights would grab a four point lead with 16:01 remaining in the first half. The Skyhawks would make a run as they would take a nine point lead with 10:31 remaining in the first half but the Knights would slowly start to chip away at the lead. The Knights would trail by six points before a halftime buzzer beater from JJ Richards would cut the lead down to 36-33. The Knights would not be able to sustain the momentum in the second half as the deficit would grow to as much as 13 points with 11:34 remaining in the game. The Knights would start to chip away at the deficit again as they would tie the game at 56-56 with 8:16 remaining and the game would continue to go back and forth between the two teams. The Knights would have a couple of opportunities at the end of regulation to get the win but the game would go into overtime tied at 70-70. The two teams would continue to look evenly matched in overtime as the largest lead by either team would reach three points. The Knights would hold a three point lead late but the Skyhawks would hit a three pointer to tie the game at 81-81. The Knights shoot and miss a three with four seconds left in overtime but Jayce Moore would come up with the offensive rebound and hit the turn around jumper with 0.2 seconds left to seal the win for the Knights. The Knights were led by Pierles Brown, who had 28 points, with Brice Martin adding 18 points. The Knights will close out the regular season on Saturday, February 24th as they host the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
