Knights Take Two From Buffs

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Friday, February 9th as they welcomed the Buffs of Milligan University to Stuckey Field for the weekend series. The Knights were looking to back in the win column while the Buffs looked to stay undefeated. The Knights would go three up, three down in the first and second innings but would get on the scoreboard in the third inning after a Ryan Wilson two-run single that would put the Knights up 2-0. The Knights bats would continue to produce offense in the fourth inning as JT Rice would hit a two-run single to put the Knights up 4-0. The Knights would get back-to-back home runs from Jacob Pierce and Wilson as they would take a 7-0 lead after four innings of play. The Buffs would score one run in the fifth inning but the Knights would answer back in the bottom half of the inning with a bases loaded walk from Pierce and a grand slam from Wilson and the Knights would hold a 12-1 lead. The Knights would hang on to the lead as they would win the first game of the series 12-1. Dylan Dickert would pitch five innings, allowing only one hit while striking out eight batters. The Knights would have to play a different game for the second game of the series as the Buffs would score one run in the first inning and two runs in the fourth inning but the Knights would score two runs of their own in the bottom half of the fourth as a wild pitch would plate Rice and a RBI single from Hunter Noblitt would close the deficit to 3-2. The Buffs would score another two runs in the sixth inning and the Knights would score one run in the bottom half of the inning on a wild pitch. The Knights would tie the game in the bottom of the eighth inning as Datren Bray would hit a clutch two-run single to tie the game at 5-5. The Buffs would answer back in the ninth inning with a run but the Knights would fight back in the ninth inning as a passed ball would allow a run to score and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded would walk off the game as the Knights would get the 7-6 victory in comeback fashion. Evan Boyle would get the victory, pitching four innings of relief and allowing four hits and one run while striking out four batters. The Knights will be back on the field on Saturday, February 10th to close out the series against the Buffs. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
