Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Monday, January 27th as they hosted the Crusaders of William Carey University. The Knights and Crusaders were previously set to play on Thursday but winter weather forced the game to be rescheduled.
The Knights came ready to play as the scored 10 of the first 12 points of the game but the Crusaders made a quick comeback with the game tied at 12-12 with 14:21 remaining in the game. The game was played close throughout the first half with the Crusaders taking the lead later in the half. The Knights trailed by as much as 10 points and the score would be 46-37 at halftime. The Crusaders got the lead up to 11 points before the Knights started their comeback in the second half. The Knights tied the game up at 58-58 with 9:59 remaining in the half and would gain a four point lead. The Knights and Crusaders battled for momentum with neither team gaining an advantage over the other with the game tied up multiple down the final minutes. A made basket by Brice Turner gave the Knights a two point lead with 18 seconds left in the game but a made basket by the Crusaders with seven seconds left tied the game at 72-72.
Jamal Taylor would get the ball with two seconds left and hit a long three point shot to give the Knights the 75-72 victory.
Bryce Turner and
Trashawn Wilson led the Knights with 14 points with
Nick Cham (13 points),
Milique Smith (11 points), and Taylor (10 points) each reaching double digits.
The Knights will be back on the court on Thursday, January 30th when they take on the Firehawks of UT-Southern on the road in Pulaski, Tennessee. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM CST.
