Second Half Goal Drops Knights

COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back in action on Wednesday as they hosted the Sand Sharks of USC-Beaufort. The Knights were going up against an opponent that only had one loss on the season and knew they would have to be tough to come away with the victory.

The Knights had a shot on offense early in the first half with a shot that sailed high and right in the fourth minute as the Sand Sharks held possession after the shot. The Sand Sharks put the first point on the scoreboard with a goal in the 11th minute and the Knights defense would stay contested. The Knights were able to get another opportunity as they counter attacked off of a Sand Shark shot and they found the back of the net with a goal in the 34th minute from Chloe Baladi, her first goal of the season, and assisted by Tegan Mullins. Both teams had more chances to break the tie but the match remained tied at 1-1 going into the halftime break.

Both teams came out of the break looking to attack and break the tie. The Sand Sharks put up three shots before they ultimately scored in the 56th minute and the Knights had to get aggressive on offense. The half was filled with corner kicks for the Knights as they played the ball in the attacking half but only amassed four shots in the half and they went on to lose 2-1.

The Knights were outshot 16-8, 7-2 in shots on goal while Hollie Keefe made five saves on the day.

The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, October 4th as they head up I-75 to Morrow, Georgia to take on the Lakers of Clayton State University. Kick off is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
