SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Knights hopped on the road on Friday as they headed to Saint Augustine, Florida to play in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Knights went into the tournament as the 6-seed and were set to face the 3-seed Bearcats of Lander University.
The Knights kept close at the start of the first set but a four-point run by the Bearcats created some separation. The Bearcats used multiple three-point runs to pull away in the middle of the set and the Knights were unable to recover as they lost the first set 25-16. The Bearcats used a four-point run to open the second set but the Knights answered back with a five-point run of their own to take the lead. Both teams kept each other close until late when the Knights got out in front of the Bearcats and won the set 25-23. The third set was another highly contested set as both teams traded the lead early. The Bearcats were able to pull away late in the set and the Knights lost 25-17. The fourth set was also close in the early stages with the Knights using a six-point run to take a 9-6 lead. The Bearcats came back to tie the set at 13-13 and the Knights ran out of gas as they lost the set 25-17.
McCall Wolf led the Knights on the day with 14 kills,
Aubrie Beard had 16 assists, and
Paige Collier had 23 digs.
The Knights season finishes with a record of 6-22, 0-15 PBC.
