VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Knights were back on the hardwood on Monday night as they headed to Valdosta, Georgia to take on the Blazers of Valdosta State University. The last time the Blazers and Knights matched up was a thriller with the Knights coming through with a last second win.
The game started out looking like the first matchup as both teams hit shots to answer each other. The game was tied at 7-7 when the Knights went on an 11-point run to pull ahead 18-7. The Knights continued to hold the lead throughout the first half but the Blazers started to inch closer. The Knights endured a cold streak to end the first half with the Blazers using an 11-point run to end the half and the Knights trailed 46-40 at halftime. The Knights slowly worked their way back into the game as they cut the lead down to three points with 14:54 remaining in the game. The Blazers were able to creep away from the Knights as the Knights faced an 11-point deficit with 1:44 remaining in the game. The Knights were determined to get back in the game as they cut the deficit down to six points but were unable to get the win as they lost 93-83.
Joshua Robertson led the Knights with 21 points as five other players reached double figures.
Milique Smith led the way with eight rebounds and five steals.
The Knights will be off for nine days as they head into their first Peach Belt Conference matchup on Wednesday, December 3
rd when they head to Americus, Georgia to take on the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern. Tip off is scheduled for 7:45 PM EST.
