COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were on their home court for the first time this season on Tuesday as they hosted the Golden Bulls of Johnson C Smith University. The Knights were undefeated heading into the matchup and looking to surpass their win total from last season.
The game started off slow as neither team could find their rhythm and make a shot. The Knights finally put the first points in the scoreboard after four minutes of play and they pulled away to keep the lead as they led 12-7 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was one to forget as the Knights made a shot early in the quarter and did not score again for the rest of the quarter. The Golden Bulls were able to take advantage of the scoring drought as they held a 17-14 at halftime. The Knights came out of the break and got the lead back from the Golden Bulls as they held a seven point lead. The lead was cut down to one point before the Knights headed into the fourth quarter with a 30-27 lead. The Golden Bulls tied the game at 30-30 early in the fourth quarter as the Knights looked to put the game away. The Knights used an eight-point run to take a 39-32 lead with 4:36 remaining in the game and held on late as they won the game 47-42.
Kennedi Hawkins led the Knights with 11 points and 11 rebounds to notch her second double-double of the season as
Ellie Southards added 10 points.
The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, November 26th as they host the Lions of Paine College. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST.
