Montgomery, AL - The Knights took the court again on Friday, February 28th as they were set to take on the Roadrunners of Dalton State College in the SSAC Tournament semi-final. The Knights and Roadrunners split the regular season matchups and Friday looked to be another great matchup.
The Roadrunners started off the game scoring the first six points but the Knights rebounded to tie the game at 8-8. The Knights were unable to grab the lead as the Roadrunners slowly started to pull away as the first half wound down. The Knights deficit grew to as many as nine points in the first half before heading into halftime down 32-26. The Knights slowly started to chip away at the deficit in the second half as they were down by one point with 12:14 remaining in the game. The game was tied at 54-54 with 7:22 remaining in the game and it was the last time the game was tied as the Knights grabbed the lead and pulled away. The lead grew to ten points with 2:21 remaining in the game and the Knights had a 13 point lead late in the second half. The Knights went on to win 77-66.
Jamal Taylor led the Knights with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field while
Trashawn Wilson added 17 points off the bench.
Milique Smith had 12 points and 13 rebounds to add another double-double to his season total.
The Knights advance to the SSAC Tournament Final, where they will play the Running Eagles of Life University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM CST.
