Gulf Shores, AL - The Knights were back on the field on Saturday, March 8th as they were set to play another two games against Houston-Victoria and United States Sports Academy.
Game One - Houston-Victoria
The Knights struck early as
Carmen Phillips hit a double and later scored on a passed ball to give the Knights a 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Cougars tied the game in the second inning but the Knights answered back in the third inning with an RBI single by
Madison Cosgrove and the Knights led 2-1. The Cougars scored two runs in the third inning and one run in the fifth inning to put the Knights behind 4-2. The Knights had a big sixth inning as they loaded the bases with no outs. A wild pitch allowed a run to score,
Mel Bullock hit a two-run single, and an RBI triple by
Alexis Cosgrove with an error that allowed her to score gave the Knights a 7-4 lead. The Cougars threatened in the seventh inning, scoring one run, but the Knights held on to win 7-5.
Game Two - United States Sports Academy
The second game of the day was suspended due to rain/lightning in the fifth inning with the Knights up 1-0.
The Knights will be back in action on Sunday, March 9th as they finish up the Gulf Shores Invitational with Cumberlands at 11:15 AM CDT and will resume their game against United States Sports Academy following the first game.
