Decatur, AL – The Knights were back at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex in Decatur, Alabama as they were set to take on the 4-seed Firehawks of UT-Southern. The Knights swept the Firehawks in the regular season with two shutouts and were looking to recreate that success.
Gabbie Haas led off the first inning with a single and a sacrifice bunt by
Carmen Phillips moved her over to second base to set up
Grace Avery for the RBI single to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead.
Kaylee Oliver led off the second inning with a double and later scored on a wild pitch as the Knights doubled their lead. The Knights extended their lead in the fourth inning with a solo home run by
Mel Bullock and got another solo home run in the fifth inning from
Madison Cosgrove as they went up 4-0.
Emily Proctor was lights out in the circle, pitching a complete game shutout, allowing only two hits while striking out 10 batters, to give the Knights a 4-0 win.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, May 3
rd against the winner of the William Carey University/Brewton-Parker College game. Game time is TBD.
