MACON, Ga.- Middle Georgia State University Director of Athletics
Michael Brown has announced Alysa Fugal as the newest member of the Knights athletics staff by filling an Assistant Athletic Trainer role.
Fugal will primarily oversee the Athletic Training operations and medical care for the MGA athletic programs at the Macon campus including women's volleyball, women's cross country, as well as the men's and women's tennis teams.
"We feel very fortunate to add a young professional to our team like Alysa who has a passion for student-athlete care," said Brown. "Her knowledge and experience early in her career were strong indicators of professionalism and we jumped at the opportunity to add her to our staff."
Fugal recently completed a one-year stint as the primary Athletic Trainer at Chattooga County High School in Summerville, Georgia. Her appointment at Chattooga was completed through her employment with Atrium Health Floyd.
Prior to entering the professional ranks, Fugal completed a clinical experience at the University of Tennessee-Martin including work with the rodeo, equestrian, softball, baseball, cheer and volleyball teams. Her work at UTM took place as she completed her master's degree from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Prior to enrolling at Lee, Fugal completed her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology at the University of Montana Western.
"I'm excited to join the staff at Middle Georgia State and to begin working with the student-athletes and hopefully be a positive part of their overall experience as they compete and pursue their goals on the field, court and classroom," said Fugal.
Fugal officially begins her duties at MGA on Monday, August 4th.
