Knights Soar Over Eagles

MACON, Ga. - The Knights were back on their home court on Saturday as they hosted the Eagles of Baptist University of Florida. The Knights were coming off of a road trip that saw them go 0-3 and the Knights were looking to get back to their winning ways.

The Knights started off the match firing on all cylinders, winning 10 of the first 11 points. The Eagles were able to claw their way back to within five points but the Knights won the final four points of the set to win 25-16.

The second set started off slower than the first for the Knights as the Eagles kept them within reach. The Knights started to slowly pull away and were able to grow the lead to 10 points. After four failed set points, the Knights were finally able to put the Eagles away and win the set 25-18.

The third set was a much closer set as both teams were unable to sustain a large lead. The set went back and forth between both teams until late when the Knights won eight of the last nine points to take the set 25-18 and win the match 3-0.

Ellie Johnson led the way for the Knights with nine kills with Mia Matheney adding seven kills and Caitlyn Wolf and Graysen Lallier each adding six kills. Aubrie Beard led the Knights with 16 assists with Johnson adding 13 assists. Yanelis Rodriguez led the team with 10 digs. The story of the match was on defense with the Knights having nine total blocks, two solo blocks and 14 assisted blocks.

The Knights will be back on the road on Tuesday, September 23rd as they head to Graceville, Florida to take on the Eagles again. Tip off is scheduled for 6 PM EST.
