COCHRAN, Ga.- The Middle Georgia State University Department of Athletics concluded their annual Knights Give campaign on Monday with a record-setting fundraising total reflecting the excitement building around MGA Athletics. A total of $61,088 was raised during the campaign while 818 donors contributed that helped secure funds for each of the 10 athletic teams at MGA.

The total dollars raised reflected a 90% increase in giving year-over-year as Knights Give has seen increasing totals each of the last three years. In addition to nearly doubling the total amount of funds raised the volume of donors participating increased by nearly 73% as the campaign went from 473 participants to a record total of 818 this year.

"We are thrilled at the level of commitment and generosity of our donors who participated in this year's Knights Give campaign as we strive to raise the bar of success and enter a new era of NCAA Division II athletics," said Michael Brown, Director of Athletics.

"Our student-athletes, coaches, and staff deserve so much credit for embracing this year's campaign with new initiatives and strategies that resulted in a highly successful fundraiser that will positively impact MGA student-athletes throughout this upcoming year. On behalf of all of our Knights we say THANK YOU to our family, friends, and other loyal supporters who contributed this year to this record-breaking peer-to-peer campaign. It truly is a special time to be a Knight and what is being built through our athletic programs," continued Brown.

Each team had an opportunity to set a monetary goal prior to the campaign and were led in their efforts to reach or in often cases exceed those goals by the leadership of Athletics Development Officer, Bobby Kummer.

"To see our teams rally around their goals and challenge each other to see who could raise the most money for important improvements and initiatives was inspiring and fun to be a part of," said Kummer.

Highlights of the campaign include three teams each raising more than $10,000 for their programs including women's basketball ($12,625), baseball ($12,512) and softball ($10,579). Plans are already underway for these funds to impact important areas of the student-athlete experience including locker room renovations, investment in new equipment and nutrition as well as technology enhancements.
In addition to the success of the Knights Give campaign the Knights Athletic Association (KAA) has also added over 300 new members since being launched in July. The KAA operates as a booster club for Knights Athletics through the MGA Foundation.
