COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back in action on Saturday as they hosted the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern. The Knights were looking to move their way up the Peach Belt standings after having lost their last two games while the Hurricanes won their last game against USC-Aiken.
The Knights were up against a wall before the game even tipped off, starting the game with only eight available players due to injuries. The Knights did well to keep the Hurricanes within reach early in the game as the Hurricanes slowly built up an eight point lead. The Knights showed some fight as they chipped away at the lead and were able to tie the game at 26-26 with 7:38 remaining in the first half. The Hurricanes built their lead back to eight points late in the half before the Knights cut it down to five points heading into the halftime break.
The Hurricanes kept building on their lead in the second half as the Knights started to show some fatigue. The deficit for the Knights grew to 22 points but the Knights kept fighting to get back in the game. The lead slowly eroded until the Knights got it down to 10 points with 5:07 left in the game. The Knights cut the deficit down to eight points but were unable to get any closer as they lost the game 92-71.
Milique Smith led the Knights with 17 points and 15 rebounds as
Krishen Atwal also had a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, January 28th against the Bobcats of Georgia College after weather forced a cancellation against Voorhees University. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.
