Late Goal Lifts Knights Over Pacers

AIKEN, S.C. - The Knights headed back out on the road on Wednesday, October 7th as they went to Aiken, South Carolina to take on the Pacers of USC-Aiken. The Knights defeated the Pacers earlier in the season at home and looked to do the same on the road.

It did not take long for the Knights to get things rolling as Kyle Massingham scored the first goal of the match after 58 seconds to put the Knights in the lead. The Knights had other opportunities throughout the first half but could not score again as they held a 1-0 lead at halftime. After both teams exchanged shots to open the second half, the Pacers scored the equalizer in the 58th minute to tie the match at 1-1. Both teams continued to exchange shots as each looked to take the lead and the Knights put the ball in the back of the net in the 84th minute off the foot of Javier Gongora Andres to take a 2-1 lead and the defense held on to get the win. Philip Haenel was a large factor in the win, making 12 saves on the night.

The win puts the Knights at 4-7-2, 2-4-1 PBC on the season as they move into fifth place in the PBC standings. Their next match will take place on Saturday, October 10th against the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern. Kick off is scheduled for 3:30 PM EST.
