Softball Wraps up Brianna Surrento Kickoff Classic

GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Knights were back on the diamond on Saturday, February 14th as they played the second day of the Brianna Surrento Kickoff Classic with games against Emory & Henry College and Southern Wesleyan University. The Knights were looking to get back in the win column after losing two games on Friday.

Game One - Emory & Henry College

Game Recap

After the Wasps scored one run in the first inning, the Knights evened up the score in the third inning on a rundown. The Wasps scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning but the Knights answered back with one run in the fourth inning, scoring on a passed ball and cutting the deficit to 3-2. The Wasps scored one run in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning as the Knights were unable to put together a run and they lost the game 6-2.

Notable Performances

Mel Bullock went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple.

Game Two - Southern Wesleyan University

Game Recap

The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead after scoring one run in both the second and third innings. The Knights were able to score one run in the fifth inning but the Warriors scored one run in the bottom half of the inning. The Knights scored another run in the sixth inning on a bases loaded walk but the Warriors scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 5-2 game. A sacrifice fly by Kaylee Oliver in the seventh inning cut the deficit to 5-3 but the Knights were unable to rally and lost the game.

Notable Performances

Jada Akeson went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a walk.

The Knights host the Wolves of Wesleyan College on Thursday, February 19th as they open their home schedule. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
