Knights Drop Two to Tritons

COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were on their home field again on Friday, February 6th as they hosted the Tritons of Eckerd College. The Knights were looking to get back in the win column after losing to Emmanuel University while the Tritons had lost the final two games of their series against Flagler College.

Game One

Game one got off to a good start for the Knights as they loaded the bases in the first inning and scored a run on a Sebastian Collender RBI single. The Tritons scored a run in the second inning but the Knights regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI groundout by Luke Davis. The Tritons answered back with seven runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning as the Knights now faced a 9-2 deficit. The Tritons scored two more runs in the sixth inning as the Knights were one run away from being on the wrong end of the mercy rule. The Knights got three runs back in the bottom half of the inning on a Mikal Ashley home run and after the Tritons scored two runs in the seventh inning, the Knights got both runs back in the eighth inning on a two-run home run by Tate Abbott. The Knights needed six runs in the ninth inning to extend the game and got sacrifice flies from Teonis PImentel and Dayton Taylor with runs scored on a hit by pitch and two bases loaded walks. The Knights got the lead down to one run but were unable to drive in the last run as they lost 13-12.

Game Two

The Tritons scored a run in the top of the first inning to give the Knights an early deficit. The Knights scored two runs in the second inning after a bases loaded hit by pitch and a sacrifice fly from Reco Coney as they grabbed a 2-1 lead. The Tritons shut down the Knights offense as they scored one run in the third, two runs in the fourth, two runs in the sixth, and one run in the seventh inning while the Knights were unable to score any runs and the Knights lost 7-2.
