The sweep looked to be in the cards for the Nighthawks as they scored two runs in each of the first two innings to put the Knights behind 4-0. The Knights got one run back in the third inning with an RBI single by
Mikal Ashley but the Nighthawks answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a run of their own. The Nighthawks poured on the runs as they scored nine runs over the next three innings and the Knights faced a 14-1 deficit heading into the seventh inning as they would have to score four runs to avoid the mercy rule. Justin Aponte were the only two runs of the inning that the Knights could muster as they lost 14-3.
