LAKELAND, Fla. - The Knights hit the court for the third time in four days on Tuesday, March 17th as they finished up their Florida road trip with a match against the Fire of Southeastern University. The Knights were looking to break a streak of 4-1 losses while the Fire were on a six-match winning streak. The Fire were also ranked 4th in the latest NAIA poll.

The doubles matches all proved to be close and foreshadowed the overall match. The Knights won the #3 doubles match with
Nick Dufner and
Vicente Faria coming away with the 6-4 decision. The #1 doubles match came down to the tiebreak for the final point as the Fire won 7-6 (7-5). The doubles point came down to the #2 doubles match that also came down to the tiebreak that saw the Knights get the 7-6 (7-4) win with
Alejandro Vizoso and
Duarte Mestre giving the Knights the lead heading into singles play. The Knights found themselves down in the match after the Fire won the #6, #5, and #3 singles matches. The Knights gained a point in the #1 singles match with a 7-6, 6-3 win from
Alejandro Vizoso to get within a point of the Fire. The #4 singles match came down to the third set after
Duarte Mestre won the first set 6-4 but the Fire won the second set 6-1. The Fire came away with the 6-2 win to take the point and the match as they also won the #2 singles match that also came down to a third set.
What's Next
The Knights will head into Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday, March 28th as they head to Milledgeville, Georgia to take on the Bobcats of Georgia College. That match is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM EST.
