AMERICUS, Ga. - The Middle Georgia State women's tennis team kicked off Peach Belt Conference play in style on Friday afternoon with a dominating 7-0 win over Georgia Southwestern in the program's first-ever PBC match. The win improves the Knights to 7-4 on the season.

The Knights cruised to the doubles point as they won the No.1 doubles matchup by a score of 6-1 behind the steady play of
Ainhoa Meili Fernandez del Moral and
Agustina Olivero. The No. 3 doubles tandem of
Lucile Gence and
Irina Furtuna were even more dominant as they came away with a 6-0 sweep.
Yana Prihach and
Aya El Marrasse Zarioui closed out the doubles sweep with a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
The singles matchusp were much of the same as Fernandez defeated her counter-part at No. 1 singles by a 6-3, 6-3 margin followed by El Marrassee at a similiar 6-3, 6-0 margin. Gence won in straight sets at No. 3 singles while Olivero (6-2, 6-1), Furtuna (6-2, 6-1) and Prihach (6-0, 6-0) made quick work of their opponents.
Notable Performances
Gence and Pirhach put together the most dominant individual performances with each winning 6-0, 6-0 in singles while Gence combined with Furtuna for a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Knights will have a quick turnaround for their second PBC match as they will take on Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia on Saturday, March 28th at 1 pm (EST).
