Late Rally Falls Short as MGA Baseball Drops Game Two to Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Middle Georgia baseball went back to Drysdale Field on Saturday looking to even the series with Flagler but were upended as the Saints scored throughout the middle innings and held off a late Knights' rally to win 10-5 and clinch the series.

Game Recap

The Knights jumped on the board first with a Sebastian Collender RBI single to plate Teonis Pimentel for a 1-0 first inning lead. However that advantage was short lived as the Saints fought back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. They would no relinquish the lead again.

Flagler increased their lead with two more runs in the third inning and a five spot in the fourth followed by one more in the fifth for their eventual total of 10 runs.

MGA chipped away at the 10-1 lead in the eighth inning thanks to a Seve Fernandez RBI single while the Knights plated three more in the ninth inning before the final out was made. Christian Dillard and Robert Fredericks each made good on their opportunities as Dillard doubled in a run to score Cam Cooper while Fredericks delivered an RBI groundout. Dillard would come around to score the final run of the game on a Saints error.

Senior Andrew Lowery got the start for MGA and despite a recent solid run of outings for the right-hander he was tagged for six runs on nine hits in his 3.1 innings of work on Saturday while striking out three and walking one. Brodie Keener followed with 3.2 innings of relief while Cameron Eason tossed a scoreless frame in the eighth inning.

Notable Performances

The Knights produced a 12-hit attack on the day and were led by Pimentel, Dillard, Fernandez and Patrick Crosby with two hits each.

What's Up Next
