Softball Splits Doubleheader With Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Knights hit the road for the final time this season as they traveled to milledgeville, Georgia to take on the Bobcats of Georgia College. The Knights were fighting to stay in the eighth spot in the Peach Belt Conference to earn a spot in the PBC Tournament while the Bobcats were sitting in fourth with a chance to move up to third.

Game One

The Knights led off the first inning with a single and a walk that led to a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third. A wild pitch allowed one run to score as the Knights grabbed the 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Bobcats came back to score one run in the second inning and three runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead. The Knights fought back in the fourth inning as Jada Akeson hit an RBI double and Mel Bullock hit a sacrifice fly to get the Knights back to within one run. The Bobcats got both runs back in the fifth inning and the Knights offense was unable to push across any more runs as the Knights dropped the first game, 6-3.

Game Two

The second game of the day moved faster than the first with the Bobcats scoring one run in the first inning. The pitchers were on display as they moved quickly through the lineups. The Knights tied the game up at 1-1 in the third inning after a two out walk led to an RBI triple by Jada Akeson. The pitchers again settled down until the sixth inning when the Knights got a leadoff single from Akeson and a sacrifice bunt moved her over to second. Kaylee Oliver came through with the RBI double to put the Knights ahead 2-1 and Riley Haley held the Bobcats offense down as the Knights won the game.

What's Up Next

The Knights will finish up their series with the Bobcats on Sunday, April 26th as they look to get another win to lock up the 8-seed in the PBC Tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EST.
