7/7/2026 10:00:00 AM

MACON, Ga.- Administrators Kaasha Thayer and Bobby Kummer have each been promoted to new positions effective July 1st, 2026. Thayer has been promoted from Assistant to Associate Athletic Director and will continue to oversee all NCAA Compliance matters for the Athletic Department while Kummer is now the Executive Director of Athletics Advancement after previously serving as the Director of Athletics Development.

Thayer has served as the Assistant A.D. for Compliance and Student Services since July '24 and will continue her role as a valued member of the senior leadership team within MGA Athletics. Her arrival to Middle Georgia coincided with the institution's planned application and eventual acceptance into the NCAA Division II provisional membership process which continues on for the Knights athletic program. She will also maintain her title of Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) within the MGA Athletic Department administrative structure.

In her tenure, Thayer has taken on leadership roles as the Chair of the Athletic Department's Compliance Committee while serving on several other committees across University divisions. She was also named New Professional of the Year from the Division of Student Affairs in 2025.

"Kaasha has provided a steady presence as not only a very skilled administrator but in an educational role through her efforts to assist all MGA coaches and student-athletes effectively make the transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II provisional membership," said Michael Brown, Director of Athletics.

"Her hard work and dedication to our student-athletes, coaches and staff is evident through her efforts every day to help guide MGA Athletics into this new era and she is very deserving of this promotion," continued Brown.

Kummer has served in his role within the MGA Foundation since October '24 while helping re-launch the Knights Athletic Association (KAA) as the primary vehicle for athletics fundraising. His efforts have helped lead MGA Athletics into an unprecedented era of fundraising success including record-totals from Knights Give, the annual peer-to-peer giving campaign as well as the expanded growth of the MGA Knights Golf Tournament. Corporate sponsorships, facility naming opportunities and endowed scholarships have all seen a significant rise due to Kummer's efforts.

"Bobby's vision for what MGA Athletics fundraising can become has played a pivotal role in connecting with new and existing donors," said Brown.

"His 'all-in' attitude and willingness to tell the great stories happening within our Middle Georgia communities have helped usher in this new era and have significantly raised the bar for what our student-athlete experience can become," said Brown.

Kummer will continue leading Athletics fundraising efforts in the elevated role of Executive Director of Athletics Advancement as a member of the MGA Foundation staff under the leadership of Vice President of Advancement, Nancy White.
