COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back in action on Sunday, September 6th as they hosted the Buccaneers of Barry University. The Knights were looking to build on the momentum from their last match while the Buccaneers were 4-0 to start the season with four shutouts.
The Knights faced a tough test with the Buccaneers controlling the ball from the start of the match. The Buccaneers did not need long to score as they scored the first goal of the match in the 8th minute on a corner kick. The Buccaneers kept up their attack and scored again in the 17th minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Knights got their first shot in the 19th minute but the shot sailed wide right and the Buccaneers went back on the attack. A penalty kick was awarded in the 24th minute and they converted to increase their lead to 3-0. The Knights had another shot in the 28th minute that was saved by the Buccaneers before the Buccaneers scored their fourth goal of the match in the 38th minute. The score remained 4-0 going into halftime. The second half was all in favor of the Buccaneers as they scored their final goal in the 57th minute and the Knights were unable to record a shot as they lost the match 5-0
The loss puts the Knights record at 1-4 as they head to Tifton, Georgia on Wednesday, September 9th to take on the Fillies of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Kick off is scheduled for 5 PM EST.
